Dutch footballer Quincy Promes (33 years old) wants to return to professional football after his release from prison. At present, he is still in detention and is awaiting an appeal hearing, scheduled for September 2026. The court has already rejected his request for early release once.

The player collected 50 caps and seven goals for the Netherlands national team between March 2014 and June 2021.

The 33-year-old striker asked to be released so he could take care of his five minor children. He also dreams of the day when he will resume training and have a new commitment, convinced that he will be able to return to his pre-sentence level.

Straight out of prison, Quincy Promes is hoping to get back on the field

“When I'm released, I'll train very hard to get back in shape. If I'm in good shape, there will definitely be interest in me. I'm almost certain I'll find a club. It's no longer about my football career, it's simply about financial help.”said Promes, quoted by sport.aktuality.sk.

The 50-capped Netherlands international was sentenced to six years in prison last February by the Amsterdam District Court for cocaine trafficking. In the past, he had already been sentenced to 18 months in prison for stabbing his cousin in the leg in 2020 during a family party.

Promes is a product of the Ajax Amsterdam football academy. Throughout his career, he also wore the shirts of Twente Enschede and Go Ahead Eagles in the Eredivisie. Abroad, he played in Russia and for the Spanish team Sevilla.
