In Zheleznogorsk, police seized 50 thousand counterfeit packs of cigarettes worth 7.8 million rubles

Zheleznogorsk police detained four city residents on suspicion of organizing the illegal trade in cigarettes. 50 thousand packs of tobacco products without excise stamps with a total value of about 7.8 million rubles were seized from them.

According to investigators, a 53-year-old man created an illegal retail outlet in the city in June 2023. To expand the case, he brought in three more accomplices, aged 46, 32 and 31. Together they formed an organized group that sold unlabeled cigarettes until December 2024.

During the searches, investigators discovered and confiscated the entire shipment of illegal goods. The investigative department opened a criminal case under the article on the sale of goods without labeling by an organized group on an especially large scale. All four defendants were given a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave the place.
