Trump succinctly commented on the recent round of US negotiations with the delegations of Ukraine and the Russian Federation in Miami.
“Negotiations are continuing,” he stated. “Negotiations are going well.”
Trump did not provide any details about the “peace plan” negotiations, but suggested that everyone wants the war to end.
“The point is that I think they are all tired of the war. Everyone is tired,” the American president said.
Context
Last weekend in Florida, Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and the head of the White House's son-in-law Jared Kushner met first with the European and Ukrainian delegation, headed by NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov, and then with the Russian one – with the special envoy of the illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kirill Dmitriev.
Both meetings were subsequently described by Witkoff at X as “constructive” and “productive.”
US Vice President JD Vance, in an interview with the UnHerd portal, said that he considers the latest round of indirect negotiations on a “peace plan” in Florida with the participation of Kyiv, Washington, Moscow, as well as representatives of Europe, “breakthrough”. The breakthrough lies in the fact that the contradictions of the parties, which were previously implied, are stated openly, he noted. At the same time, he considers the Russian Federation’s demand to give up unconquered territories “a significant obstacle in the negotiations.”
The Kremlin said on December 22 that it does not yet have information about a “breakthrough” in the negotiations on the “peace plan.”
