“The share of those who believe that it is now necessary to move on to peaceful negotiations has increased in recent months and reached two-thirds of those surveyed (66%). […] At the same time, the share of those who think that military operations need to be continued is decreasing – to a quarter of respondents (25%) – this is the minimum value for the entire period of observation,” the material says.
The Levada Center noticed that there are more supporters of continuing the war, in particular among those who trust Russian television (that is, propaganda) and approve of the actions of the illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin (who started the war).
“The share of supporters of peace negotiations is higher among women (71%), respondents under 40 years of age (74%), respondents with secondary education and below (72%), rural residents (72%), those who believe that things in the country are going the wrong way (80%), those who do not approve of Putin’s activities as president (80%), those who trust social networks as a source of information (75%),” the sociologists wrote.
The Levada Center conducted a sociological study from December 11 to 19 on a representative all-Russian sample of the urban and rural population. 1,618 people aged 18 years and older in 137 localities were interviewed using personal interviews. The statistical error does not exceed 3.4%.
