Trump's controversial decision
President Trump announced that Jeff Landry, the Republican governor of Louisiana, has been appointed U.S. envoy to Greenland. According to the American leader, Landry “understands how important Greenland is to the national security of the United States.”
Landry himself, commenting on his nomination on social media, announced that his mission would focus on “incorporating Greenland into the USA.”

Denmark's reaction. The ambassador will be summoned
Washington's decision was met with an immediate response from Denmark. On Monday, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it would summon the United States ambassador for an interview.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen has made it clear that the United States has no right to interfere in Denmark's internal affairs. He also recalled that Greenland is an autonomous territory belonging to his country.
