Mix flour with this and get fragrant and tender ginger cookies. Christmas recipe

Ukrainian culinary specialist and restaurateur Evgeniy Klopotenko shared a recipe for gingerbread on his website.

Ingredients:

  • 100 g honey;
  • 100 g butter;
  • 50 g sugar;
  • 0.5 tsp. soda;
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon;
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger;
  • two eggs;
  • 400 g flour.

Ingredients for meringue:

  • two egg whites;
  • 100 g sugar;
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice.

Preparation

  1. Combine honey, butter, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon and ginger in a saucepan. Place over low heat and cook until boiling, stirring constantly. When the mixture starts to foam, remove from heat and add a pinch of salt.
  2. Let the mixture cool, stirring constantly for one to two minutes. Add eggs and stir.
  3. Then add flour and knead the dough. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes in plastic wrap in the refrigerator.
  4. Roll out the dough between two sheets of parchment into a 0.5 cm thick crust.
  5. Cut out cookies using themed cutouts. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Bake cookies for 10–12 minutes in an oven preheated to 180°C.
  6. For the meringue, beat the egg whites, sugar and lemon juice in a steam bath until the mixture thickens. Place the meringue in a pastry bag and decorate the finished cookies.
