Laszlo Balint (46 years old), the technician from Oțelul Galați, drew the first conclusions in the interview, after his team won the last match of 2025, at home, against those from FC Argeș, score 2-1, in stage #21 of the Superliga. He praised his players, but spoke with a little concern about what comes next, as in the next period the club will have to sell some footballers to ensure financial stability.
Oțelul Galati ends 2025 in a play-off spot, but Balint knows that there is still a lot of work to be done in 2026, in order to keep the position in the top 6. However, he is extremely satisfied with the students he works with, for whom he had only words of praise, but he is aware that some of them will leave in this winter mercato window, with offers already coming in their names.

“A victory that pleases us, we worked, it seems we worked well, we end 2022 in a play-off place. I have to thank the boys, they showed character and showed the qualities they have, I also suffered, they showed that we can suffer, they sometimes played with my emotions and those of the whole stadium, but I think it is a deserved victory, hard work, a crowning of a temporary work.
There are some very difficult games ahead, but what happened in December gives us confidence. We have principles and we try to put them into practice in every match, I'm glad it's an easy team to coach, they understand what we have to do.
In some moments, in the first half we didn't have dynamics, then we threw the opponent off balance and scored. FC Argeș had a goalkeeper in form today, with very good interventions, I'm glad that these guys respect the game plan and come with their quality, because they are players of great value.
A lack of inspiration in the last decision, the last execution, we could have scored the third goal, I am… not necessarily unhappy, but I wanted to finish without conceding a goal, 3 points are 3 points, but it was nice to win without conceding a goal.
9 more games in January, we have to see who will leave, there are players who have offers and the club is unfortunately in a position to sell to stabilize the situation. Everyone works in the club, the president, the administrative staff, the players, the support staff, there was unity within the club, otherwise we couldn't progress.
We make many people happy, the city of Galati sees that the players play very well and are up there. Those in management can tell you how many will leave, but for some I know there are discussions, they have attracted the attention of some clubs and there are some offers, it remains to be seen, I am a coach, we will see.
I want quality players, but financial stability is most important. We have set ourselves up for a not easy job, but we are efficient and we bring results”, said Laszlo Balint, after the match, on “Digi Sport Special”.
