“I didn't like it that much anymore”

Dutch midfielder Desley Ubbink, 32, has just played his last match of his football career. He got his boots on after Metaloglobus – Unirea Slobozia (2-3). A surprising decision because the batting player could have evolved for a long time from now.

However, Desley decided to end his football career. He was no longer motivated! He spent some years in Romania, in various teams.

Desley Ubbink explained to GSP.ro why he gave up his football career at the age of 32: “I didn't like it anymore. I will focus on the future, I will be an agent”

“I decided (to quit) because I didn't like it that much after 12 years away from my country. And I want to focus on another career, that of an agent, and of course spend time with my family.

I liked it a lot in Romania. The country is really cool. The level of football is good and it's good to play here. I have pleasant, beautiful feelings towards Romania and I really enjoyed playing here. We keep it close anyway,” Ubbink commented for Gazeta Sporturilor.

The midfielder also performed in Romania for UTA Arad, Corvinul Hunedoara and FC Bihor. In the summer of 2024, he wore the Corvinu jersey in the Europa League and Conference League preliminaries.

Ubbink also played at Emmen in the Netherlands, but also through the championships in Slovakia, in Trencin, in Poland in Podbeskidzie and in Kazakhstan in Taraz and Shakhtior Karagandy.

He is quoted by the specialized website Transfermarkt at 100,000 euros, a price he has maintained since the summer. The highest was reached in 2016, when it was worth 650,000 euros.
