Hannah Rapp, a 26-year-old American boxer, tragically passed away on Saturday in Texas after being struck by a car while riding her bicycle.
According to reports, Rapp was overtaken by a vehicle whose driver subsequently reversed and hit her. The driver has been detained and charged with negligent homicide.
Hannah Rapp’s Background
Originally from Indiana, Rapp transitioned from athletics to boxing, turning professional in 2024 while also working full-time as a fire safety inspector.
In June, she competed for the WBC lightweight championship but was defeated by Tiara Brown in Orlando. Her professional record stood at 8 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw.
Mauricio Sulaiman, president of the WBC, expressed his sorrow in a statement: “She was an exceptional boxer, but above all, a valued member of our boxing family.”

Tiara Brown, Rapp’s last opponent, recalled her fondly as the “best dance partner” she had faced. Brown shared a touching moment where Rapp asked her for an autograph before their fight.
“It warmed my heart because we were gearing up for battle, yet she was asking for my autograph. We had a great fight. It was an honor to share the ring with her,” Brown stated.
Additionally, Rapp’s agent released a statement highlighting her impact: “Hannah left a lasting impression on everyone who had the chance to know her. She was a talented athlete, a valuable member of the boxing community, and someone deeply respected by those around her. We are grateful to have shared a part of her journey and will honor her memory in the coming weeks.”
