FIFA has severely sanctioned Al-Nassr for the second time since Cristiano Ronaldo has been at the club

Cristiano Ronaldo's (40-year-old) club Al-Nassr has been handed a transfer ban by FIFA shortly before the January transfer window.
The governing body updated its official register on Friday and included Al-Nassr on the list of clubs that cannot register new players.
Al-Nassr received a transfer ban from FIFA
The start date of the sanction is December 19, but its end has not yet been specified, goal.com reported.
Unlike regular punishments, which set out exactly the number of transfer periods during which the ban is valid, in Al-Nassr's case it only states “until further notice”. This uncertainty has generated concerns in Riyadh, especially in the context of the formation of the squad for the second half of the season.
However, Al-Nassr is not the only club facing sanctions. Other Saudi clubs such as Al-Shabab, Damac and Al-Riyadh are also on the FIFA list.
Al-Nassr is not on his first transfer ban
For Al-Nassr, the situation is not an unknown one. In July 2023, just months after Ronaldo's arrival, the club faced a similar player registration ban.
The sanction at the time was related to financial irregularities regarding the transfer of Ahmed Musa from Leicester City in 2018, worth 16.5 million euros.
Al-Nassr leads the Saudi Arabian league with 9 wins from as many matches, having the best offense with 30 goals scored and the best defense with only 5 goals conceded.
