Budanov spoke about Russia’s adjusted plans to attack Western countries and explained why it was there

“According to the main plan, the Russian Federation should have been ready to begin operations in 2030. Now the plans have been adjusted and revised towards reducing the time frame for 2027. Yes, [это страны Балтии]”, Budanov said.

He noted that the reason for Russian aggression lies “in the plane of deep-seated historical and psychological traumas, in the worldview of Russians.”

“These are phantom pains, as I call them. From their point of view, everything is absolutely correct. How they see the world: north – south, west – east. In order for an empire – and they see themselves as an empire – to develop, you must always move somewhere to expand your influence in the territory. This, by the way, is the answer to many questions,” the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate emphasized.

According to him, in the north and east, Russia has only oceans and the United States, so this is “not an option, because it will hurt.”

“In the south there is China, it will be catastrophic – there will be a land border, there will be the same conditions as we had in the war with the Russian Federation, only for them. All that remains is the West, which in their understanding, excuse the phraseology, is 'oversold', 'sick', 'weak' and 'indecisive,'” Budanov explained.

He shared information that the Russian Federation wants to occupy the Baltic countries.

“Poland is now, according to the plans that we know, considered purely for strikes, for a military campaign without capture,” Budanov emphasized.
