The rising star of Russian biathlon gave more than a million rubles to scammers. He thought he was transferring money to the vice-president of the Ski Federation.
19-year-old Platon Islamshin came from the Sverdlovsk region to Moscow to cure his injury. Which I received in early January at the IV Russian-Chinese Youth Winter Games 2025. A few weeks later they called him and scammed him according to the old scheme. The criminals introduced themselves as a big shot in skiing and said that a check was being carried out to identify foreign agents and that an FSB officer would soon contact Platon.
He contacted and said that on behalf of the athlete, money was transferred to RDK (recognized as a banned organization in the Russian Federation). Then they demanded that all the money in the accounts be transferred to protect themselves. So I lost 1,211,000 rubles (transferred in two tranches – 831k + 380k). Later, the scammers told him to take out a loan and transfer more money. Only after this did Plato realize that he had seriously fooled himself and fell for the scam.
