On Friday after 10.00 in the courtyard of the Presidential Palace, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky was officially welcomed by President Karol Nawrocki. Then the presidents will talk privately, and then plenary talks between both delegations will be held under their chairmanship.
President Nawrocki welcomed the Ukrainian leader in the courtyard of the Presidential Palace. Zelensky's welcome took place with full ceremony, with the participation of military assistance and the Polish Army orchestra. Zełenski was also welcomed by presidential ministers: the head of the KPRP Zbigniew Bogucki, Marcin Przydacz, Sławomir Cenckiewicz and Wojciech Kolarski. The deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Marcin Bosacki, also participates in the ceremony. Zelensky is accompanied by the head of Ukrainian diplomacy, Andriy Sybiha, and the Ukrainian ambassador to Poland, Vasyl Bodnar.
Polish and Ukrainian flags were hung in front of the entrance to the Presidential Palace.
Before A meeting between Nawrocki and Zelensky with media representatives is planned at 12 p.m.
This is Volodymyr Zelensky's first visit to Warsaw since Karol Nawrocki was sworn in as president. According to the announcement, the presidents will talk about security, economy and historical issues.
The president's spokesman, Rafał Leśkiewicz, announced that Nawrocki will personally assure Zelensky of Poland's continued support for Ukraine; the presidents are also to talk about the Polish contribution to the reconstruction of Ukraine and the issue of the competitiveness of Ukrainian agriculture; Moreover, the president will appeal to start search and exhumation work in Volhynia.
After the talks at the Presidential Palace, Zelensky will meet in parliament with the Speaker of the Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, and the Speaker of the Senate, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska.
Volodymyr Zelensky will also meet with Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
European leaders participating in the summit in Brussels decided on the night from Thursday to Friday to provide financial support to Ukraine in the form of a loan of EUR 90 billion for the next two years. An agreement on the use of frozen Russian assets, mostly deposited in Belgium, for this purpose has not been reached. In order to further finance Ukraine, 24 member states (excluding Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic) will take out a common debt guaranteed by the EU budget.
On Friday, President Zelensky thanked the leaders of EU countries for the decision to provide financial support to Ukraine. He stated that this strengthens Ukraine's resilience and ensures the state's financial security while maintaining the freezing of Russian assets. (PAP)
