The mayor of Timişoara, USR president Dominic Fritz took the oath of allegiance to Romania on Thursday, becoming a citizen of the country, thanking Romania for its open arms and Timişoara for being his home.

“What a huge privilege to have been able to choose my love for this country. I took the oath of allegiance to Romania, of which I am a citizen today”the USR leader sent.
“Thank you, Romania, for your open arms, for your potential for inspiration, for your overflowing energy. Thank you, Timisoara, for being my home”wrote the USR leader, the mayor of Timisoara, Dominic Fritz.
A number of 24 people were scheduled to take the oath on Thursday, from 2:00 p.m., at the headquarters of the National Authority for Citizenship. According to the law, Romanian citizenship is granted on the date of taking the oath of allegiance to Romania. Within 6 months from the date of communication of the order of the President of the National Authority for Citizenship granting Romanian citizenship, the persons who have been granted Romanian citizenship take the oath of allegiance to Romania, writes News.
The oath of allegiance is submitted in a solemn meeting before the Minister of Justice or the president of the National Authority for Citizenship or one of the 2 vice-presidents of the authority delegated in this regard and has the following content:I swear to be devoted to the homeland and the Romanian people, to defend national rights and interests, to respect the Constitution and laws of Romania.”
After taking the oath, the Citizenship Commission issues the Romanian citizenship certificate to the holder, signed by the president of the National Citizenship Authority. The certificate contains security elements and has the owner's photo attached.
