Eleven-year-old Krasnoyarsk resident Vladimir Shpanagel received a blue judo kimono from Russian President Vladimir Putin. The gift was presented by representatives of the Krasnoyarsk Popular Front, reports sibnovosti.ru.
The boy sent a request to Direct Line with the president. In the letter, he said that he has been practicing judo for six years and dreams of a blue kimono so that, like Vladimir Putin, he can be strong and successful in this sport. The boy came to judo following the example of his entire family: his older brother is a candidate master of sports, and his mother is a Russian champion.
A special role in the life of the young athlete was played by his father, Andrei Shpanagel, who was an honored coach and headed the panel of judges of the Russian Judo Federation. He knew Vladimir Putin's coach, Anatoly Rakhlin, and met with the president himself. After his father passed away, Volodya began to strive even more for athletic heights.

“On the instructions of the president, we decided to fulfill Volodya’s request as soon as possible, on the eve of the New Year,” said Anna Stunzhaite, a member of the ONF headquarters in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The gift came as a complete surprise to the family. Vladimir’s mother, Yulia Yurina, admitted that this was a real miracle for them.
