The best player of the year was named Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman was not in the top of preferences for Mircea Lucescu. “Il Luce” chose Harry Kane as the best player of the year, followed by Raphinha and Kylian Mbappe.

Ianis Hagi chose Lamine Yamal as the best player of the year, followed by Raphinha and the winner of the trophy, Ousmane Dembele.

FIFA The Best voting system

“The Best FIFA Football Awards” gala was established by FIFA in 2016, a replica of the “Ballon d'Or” offered by France Football.

The voting method is much more complex. A short list of nominees was chosen based on their performance from August 11, 2024 to August 2, 2025.

The national team selectors, national team captains, a journalist from each country and the fans voted. Those who vote choose three players, and the points are allocated according to the position occupied: 1st place – 5 points, 2nd place – 3 points, 3rd place – 1 point.
