The purchase of A26 Blekinge ships is an opportunity for the Polish arms industry

The signed memorandum specifies the number of units, their delivery schedule and the framework of the future contract. According to the document, Poland will acquire A26 Blekinge ships with dedicated armament and a full logistics package.
According to information provided by the Ministry of National Defense, the agreement opens new opportunities for the Polish arms industry. Technology transfer will allow domestic companies to acquire competences in the maintenance, repair and inspection of ships throughout their entire operational period. Moreover, Sweden has undertaken to involve Polish entities in the process of producing weapons for the Swedish army. Thanks to this, Polish defense companies can count on increasing their competitiveness on international markets.
— The agreement also provides for the use of Polish components in Swedish defense platforms, which will further strengthen cooperation between the defense industries of both countries, said the Ministry of Defense.
The purchase of three modern submarines under the Orka program is one of the most important modernization projects of the Polish Navy. The Swedish offer, including the delivery of A26 Blekinge units produced at the Saab-Kockums shipyard, was approved by the Polish government at the end of November. The new ships are intended to significantly increase Poland's defense potential in the Baltic Sea.
The decision to cooperate with Sweden is part of the broader context of strengthening security in the Baltic Sea region, which has become an arena of growing geopolitical tensions in recent years.
