A city constantly under fire
The city of Zaporizhia is less than 25 kilometers from the front line in its southern area and has been bombed regularly since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
The Zaporizhia region was declared annexed by Russia in September 2022, although Moscow's troops control only part of the territory. It is also home to Europe's largest nuclear power plant, which has been under Russian control since the early days of the conflict, adding to security concerns in the area.
