During a media briefing before departure from Helsinki, where the summit of the EU's eastern flank was held on Tuesday, Tusk was asked about his cooperation with President Nawrocki and Tuesday's reports by “Gazeta Wyborcza”, according to which the president's entourage “wanted to monopolize” preparations for Poland's participation in the G20 deliberations.

The Prime Minister assessed that the president and his entourage refuse to cooperate when it comes to foreign policy. – It's not just about the G20. In fact, almost every day we encounter such attempts to undermine the authority of the Polish government and Poland by someone close to the president, and this serves our interests very badly, Tusk emphasized..

The head of government added that he had attempted to “close cooperation with the president” in the field of foreign policy, “but there has been virtually no reaction for weeks.”. – Including not answering the phone – he said. Tusk also assessed that “the beginnings were not bad” because “at least the president responded to text messages.”

When asked if he frequently contacted the president, the prime minister replied that he stopped doing so because “it did not bring results.”

The Prime Minister also expressed his belief that cooperation in this domain is an “obvious necessity and constitutional obligation”, but – as he added – the president and his entourage are trying to maintain the conflict and encroach on the government's competences.

The head of the Chancellery of the President, Zbigniew Bogucki, asked on Tuesday evening on TVN24 about the prime minister's words that the president stopped answering his phone, replied that he had no knowledge of this being the case. – The president is really open, he meets with various groups – he added.

– If the Prime Minister wanted to meet the President, he met the next day. Then, when they were celebrating the anniversary of the outbreak of World War II, they also talked to each other, I remember the Cabinet Council. I am convinced that if the Prime Minister wants to talk to the President, there will be a place and time for the meeting – emphasized Bogucki.

Poland's possible participation in the work of the G20 group has been talked about for several months. The G20 groups 19 countries, the EU and the African Union, which are responsible for approximately 85 percent. world GDP. The group does not have a permanent secretariat and does not make binding decisions, but it is a key platform for discussions on global economic challenges. Chairmanship of the group in December this year. the United States took over. Next year, a summit of G20 leaders is to be held in Miami, Florida, to which President Karol Nawrocki received an invitation from US President Donald Trump.

As reported by Tuesday's “GW”, the government proposed that Poland's participation in the G20 be coordinated by “two so-called sherpa: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcin Bosacki and the head of the International Policy Office in the Chancellery of the President, Marcin Przydacz.”

“The president's entourage complained again in the White House. As a result, a response came from Washington that the Americans only wanted to talk about the preparations with Przydacz. The presidential minister managed to boast about this fact on social media platforms,” said a government source quoted by “GW”. (PAP)
