Dressage champion Lisa Muller (36) joined the CSU (Christian Social Union) party in Bavaria.
Thomas Muller's wife, Lisa, said at one point that she did not want to be an accessory at the disposal of her much more famous husband. She had already made a career in riding and wanted it to be known that she was not just a simple “footballer's wife”.
In the summer, when Muller ended his contract with Bayern and transferred to the Vancouver Whitecaps, she did not follow him to Canada. And now, when he extended his stay with the Americans for the new season, Lisa entered politics!
Lisa Muller: “CSU is my political home. We need more women in the political environment”
After completing an internship with the speaker of the Bavarian Parliament, Ilse Aigner (CSU), the wife of the former Bayern Munich star joined the CSU (Christian Social Union) party. She told Antenne Bayern radio: “The CSU is my political home. I really enjoyed my internship there and gained many interesting impressions and experiences. All this strengthened my decision”.
This after, in the summer, she said that “in general, I'm very interested in politics, economics and world events. But I never said I wanted to go into politics.” Her perspective changed later and she revealed to Bild journalists what exactly made her take the step: “I think that sometimes we women are too shy, but I think that more women would definitely be beneficial for the political environment.”

Ilse Aigner, the Speaker of the Bavarian Parliament, praised her in the highest tones. “Lisa Müller is an interesting and intelligent woman who also runs an agricultural business, we are talking about her farm and herd”. According to her own statements, the new member of the CSU is not currently running for any office or mandate.
Lisa and Thomas Müller have been a couple since 2007 and have been married since 2009. As a dressage rider, she won the Bavarian Championships in 2024 and 2025, among other titles. A few weeks ago, she criticized the way she was treated by the media, explaining: “As soon as I don't win, the mainstream papers, who have no idea about my sport, portray me as a failure.”
