The local Russian governor reported that two people died as a result of the drone strike on the city of Syzran. The Ukrainian side officially admitted that the target of the operation was the local refinery, which is one of the pillars of fuel supplies in the region.
The heart of the refinery destroyed. The repairs will take months
The hit turned out to be extremely precise. According to experts, drones paralyzed the CDU-6 installation (used for primary distillation of oil), which is responsible for over 70 percent. total processing capacity of the entire plant.
According to Reuters sources from the fuel industry the key unit was immediately taken out of service, and its complicated repair under sanctions conditions may take over a month.

Billions of dollars in losses for Putin's war machine
For the Kremlin, this is a huge economic and logistical loss. The nominal capacity of the refinery in Syzran is as much as 8.5 million metric tons of oil per year, which translates into approximately 170,000. barrels per day.
In 2024, the plant processed 4.3 million tons of raw material. According to market sources, 1.5 million tons of diesel oil were produced there, 800 thousand tons of gasoline and 700 thousand tons of fuel oil.
The exclusion of such a large producer from the market heralds serious problems with the availability of fuel in Russia and a further decline in profits from the export of petroleum products, from which the Kremlin finances the war.
