Reindeer herders in the tundra were offered to deliver goods using drones

16 December 17:42
Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Dmitry Artyukhov came up with the idea of organizing unmanned delivery of parcels for residents of the tundra. He stated this during a lecture for students of the Higher School of Economics, Yamal 1 reports.
The head of the region invited young scientists to work on an air logistics project that would allow them to deliver necessary goods to remote reindeer herders’ camps using drones. The task assigned to specialists is to calculate the economic and technological efficiency of such a solution.
According to Artyukhov, the introduction of such a system could solve the problem of availability of goods for residents of remote areas, including orders from online stores. The regional government is ready to support promising development.
Scientists will present their calculations and proposals as early as April 2026. If the project is successfully justified, it is planned to be launched in test mode.
