In one of the most spectacular matches of this Premier League season, if not the best, Manchester United and Bournemouth they ended in a 4-4 draw at Old Trafford.
Manchester United and Bournemouth provided goals and spectacle as they drew 4-4 in the game that brought the curtain down on the Premier League round of 16 on Monday night.
The “Red Devils” started strongly and opened the scoring in the 13th minute with Diallo's goal. Bournemouth's reply came in the 40th minute when Semenyo restored parity. However, Ruben Amorim's side took the lead again in first-half extra time, with Casemiro making it 2-1 in the 45+4th minute.
Total performance in the second half and two turnovers
The second half initially belonged to the “cherries”, who, through an impressive counterattack, completely turned the situation around. Evanilson equalized at 2-2 in the 46th minute, and six minutes later, in the 52nd minute, Tavernier put the visitors ahead for the first time (2-3).
Manchester United reacted and in turn pulled off an incredible comeback within just two minutes. Fernandes, from a flawless free-kick, made it 3-3 in the 77th minute, and in the 79th minute, Cunha put the hosts ahead again, making it 4-3.
The match, however, still had emotions to offer. Bournemouth did not give in and found the equalizer in the 84th minute through Krupi, who settled the final score at 4-4, sealing a showpiece match, a true advertisement for English football.
The result saw Manchester United move up to 26 points and sit in 6th place, level with 5th-placed Crystal Palace and just two points behind Chelsea in 4th place. On the other hand, Bournemouth climbed to 21 points and 13th place, extending their lead over the relegation zone to eight points.
