In Norilsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory, a court found a man guilty of nviolation of traffic rules resulting in negligence causing serious harm to human health.

It all happened in November 2024 in the evening at a pedestrian crossing along Ordzhonikidze Street near the City Culture Center: an unlicensed driver of a Renault Logan did not have time to brake and beat a woman.

“The blow threw the woman onto the asphalt. Instead of helping, the driver accelerated and disappeared, leaving the victim on the roadway. Realizing the gravity of what he had done, he parked the car nearby, returned on foot, supposedly as a passer-by, and began asking eyewitnesses and the traffic police for details: the condition of the victim, whether anyone remembered the license plate number. Having made sure that it had passed, he left, and at night he drove the car into the garage and covered up the damage,” the prosecutor’s office said.

The woman was seriously injured and treatment is still ongoing. INLaw enforcement officers found the person responsible for the accident using street cameras: at first he denied it, but then he confessed to everything and explained his behavior as fear.

By item “b, c” part 2 art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the court sentenced him to 5.5 years in prison to serve the sentence in a penal colony.
