In an extremely aggressive message, US President Donald Trump claimed on Monday that the death of Rob Reiner, who, together with his wife, was the victim of an “apparent crime”, according to the police, was the result of the famous filmmaker's “fanatic” anti-Trumpism, reports AFP, taken by Agerpres.

Rob Reiner's death “was due to the anger he caused in others” with his “anti-Trump neurosis,” the US president wrote on his Truth Social network.

He used the term “Trump Derangement Syndrome”, popularized by his supporters, to describe what they consider to be an irrational hostility towards Donald Trump, to the point of being comparable to a mental illness.

“He was known for driving people crazy with his fanatical obsession with President Donald J. Trump,” the US president also wrote. The message ends: “Rob and Michele, rest in peace.”

Donald Trump, who easily relates current events to himself, is known for being particularly vindictive.

Since returning to power, he has increasingly disregarded social conventions or basic rules of courtesy. He has publicly stated that he “hates” his opponents and does not subscribe to the notion of forgiveness.

Nick Reiner, the son of director Rob Reiner, was taken into custody in Los Angeles County on suspicion of murder, hours after the director and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their home in Brentwood, the Los Angeles Times writes.

The information provided by the police provides few details, but it is stated that Nick Reiner is being held on a bond of 4,000,000 dollars. The reason for the arrest is not specified, but it is said that he was detained on Sunday at 21.15 local time and placed in custody on Monday morning at 05.04.

Investigative sources said there were no signs their home had been forced into and the injuries appeared to have been caused by stab wounds. Their bodies were found by one of the children, who alerted the police.
