The Minister of Justice, Radu Marinescu, stated that he sent a message to the judicial system after the appearance of the Recorder documentary: “Make order, clarify things, check everything that is reported, let's find out the truth and take the necessary measures in accordance with the powers”, according to a statement provided to Digi24.

Asked if the president of the High Court of Cassation and Justice, Lia Savonea, should resign as a result of the protests, Marinescu replied that it was a personal decision.

“I am the Minister of Justice, (…) I have always expressed balanced points of view and within the limits of my competences. I cannot say that someone should resign or not. As you know, resignation is a personal act that everyone assumes in relation to the assessment we make”, specified Radu Marinescu.

A judge's call

After the appearance of the Recorder documentary “Captured Justice”, about 900 from the judicial system signed a letter announcing their solidarity with the professionals who “had the courage to report the problems and pressures in the justice system”.

On Sunday, in an interview for Recoder, judge Raluca Moroșanu from the Bucharest Court of Appeal said that “Lia Savonea must leave the judiciary”.

Raluca Moroșanu is the judge who spoke before a press conference of the management of the Bucharest Court of Appeal and said that she stands in solidarity with her colleague Laurentiu Beșu who testified in the documentary “Captured Justice” and confirms

Asked by the Recorder if Lia Savonea's power is so great, Raluca Moroșanu answered: “People, some, believe that, having these relationships in politics, she can still ensure their pensions, salaries, that she will intervene and solve these things, which hurt us all.”

“Your communication style is so aggressive, let's say, that some people get scared, and others become like her. Once Mrs. Savonea disappears, those you saw, who are around you, will be scared. They will be scared, they will no longer have their backs insured, so to speak,” continued Moroșanu.
