In Romania, these known resorts developed spectacularly after 1880, the model of French or German spa towns being imported almost uncritically.

“The spas have represented, especially since the 19th century, a privileged laboratory of modernity, where concerns for health, leisure, urban aesthetics and technological progress have been concentrated”, writes Ștefania Tîrcă in the study “Romanian Spas, between then and now”

The latest issue of Arhitectura Magazine, “Greetings from the baths!”, is dedicated to the architecture of the spas, their history and the saving projects that could revitalize these once legendary places of leisure, therapy and health care.

If you carry with you a family memory, a state, a nostalgia for the balneo-climatic resorts of yesteryear, find out that there are projects to revitalize the Herculane, Amara, Govora, Techirghiol or Ocnele Mari baths.

Read, on b365.ro, what their future might look like.
