Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz sums up two years. Poland's security comes first


In December 2023, Donald Tusk took over as prime minister, presenting the program and composition of the government, which was sworn in by President Andrzej Duda a day later. Since then, as Kosiniak-Kamysz notes, Intensive work is underway to build a strong army, alliances and a society resistant to threats.

The Minister of National Defense drew attention to investments in modern military equipment, both from Polish producers and key allies. He emphasized that the safety of soldiers and their equipment remains a priority. Among the latest projects, he mentioned the modernization of the Navy, pointing to the Swedish submarines selected under the Orka program as a symbol of progress.
In the context of the eastern border, Kosiniak-Kamysz referred to the NATO Eastern Sentry mission, which was launched after the incident with Russian drones in September. Its aim is to strengthen the protection of NATO's eastern flank by deploying systems for detecting and neutralizing air threats, as well as engaging allied fighters.

The minister also recalled the “Shield East” project, which focuses on the construction of military installations and fortifications along the border with Russia and Belarus.
Modern technologies in the Polish Army
Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized the importance of modern technologies in the army, including the implementation of artificial intelligence and the creation of Medical Forces.
“I could go on and on – 200 modernization contracts concluded by the Armament Agency have been achieved in the last two years,” he said, adding that the most important are soldiers, their actions and responsibility.
In the minister's opinion, Poland stands out in NATO and the EU not only in terms of financial expenditure, but also thanks to its strategic approach to security issues.

“We rely on our largest allies, such as the United States, but we are also developing cooperation with the countries of the Baltic Sea basin,” he noted.
Military education on the list of priorities of the Ministry of National Defense
The Minister of National Defense also drew attention to investments in military education, from the professional level to military universities. “Military universities are our pride, and young military students are our future,” he emphasized.

Finally, Kosiniak-Kamysz invited all citizens to participate in the “wReadiness” program, which aims to increase the defense skills of Poles. The program consists of several modules and is addressed to every interested citizen. “We count on everyone's participation,” the minister appealed.
