Kara-Murza accused Kasparov of rudeness and meanness. According to one version, their quarrel is over Ukraine

“Today I resigned from the Anti-War Committee of Russia, which I have been a member of since its founding in February 2022. I do not find it possible to remain in the same organization with Garry Kasparov, who considers rudeness and vile personal insults an acceptable method of political struggle,” Kara-Murza wrote.

He conveyed “special greetings” to the Berlin Declaration, which was signed on April 30, 2023 by some of the Russian oppositionists.

The Berlin Declaration speaks of the need to achieve strategic goals – “cessation of aggression against Ukraine and the creation of a free, legal, federal Russia.”

The Anti-War Committee of Russia responded to Kara-Murza’s decision 10 minutes before Kara-Murza’s own post.

“We unite people of completely different political views and opinions, we have discussions and disagreements, and we are not always able to agree with each other. Unfortunately, Vladimir Kara-Murza decided to leave the Anti-War Committee. We respect his choice, immensely appreciate his contribution to the common cause of the fight against the Putin regime and the war he unleashed in Ukraine,” the post says.

The head of the Free Buryatia Foundation, Alexandra Garmazhapova, stated on Facebook that she was present during the quarrel between Kara-Murza and Kasparov.

“Kara-Murza resigned from the Anti-War Committee after Garry Kasparov’s insulting behavior in Paris. […] At the dinner before the morning meeting with the PACE leadership, Kasparov, in the tone of a brotherhood, began to find out from Kara-Murza why he was not signing the Berlin Declaration,” she wrote.

According to Garmazhapova, “Kara-Murza tried to constructively answer that he was in prison when work on the Berlin Declaration was underway.”

“You’re not ashamed to say that you were imprisoned, by the way, for only two years, when here is a person who was imprisoned for 10 years,” the head of the fund quotes Kasparov, who also explained that we are talking about the former head of Yukos, Mikhail Khodorkovsky.

She reported that Kara-Murza told Kasparov this: “You are talking like a person who escaped from Russia in 2013. As far as we know, you served five days in prison in your entire life.”

According to Garmazhapova, “Garry Kimovich suffered – he began to shout that all the true fighters against the Putin regime have left and are fighting for Ukraine, and are not in prison.”

“You bastard!” Kasparov shouted to Kara-Murza. “Who pulled you out of prison?! I pulled you out! You don’t sign the Berlin Declaration because you can’t say that Crimea is Ukraine!” she wrote.

Media expert, executive director of the public organization “Institute of Post-Information Society” Dmitry Zolotukhin, commenting on the posts of Kara-Murza and Garmazhapova, noted that Kasparov's mistake was to invent a meme about “good Russians”, which “greatly harmed everyone.”

“I personally contacted a dozen people from this bank of spiders, even though they strongly included ignore, and Kara-Murza was generally banned earlier, without explaining anything. Kasparov, of course, is not an icon to pray to. But his last speech and command in Halifax at least evokes respect. He will not be invited next time with such an approach,” he wrote.
