It reflects both traditional political attachments and the different experiences of subsequent generations who interpret current geopolitical challenges differently.
The EU is still closer to the majority. And more so for women
Only the analysis of detailed data shows how strongly the European direction dominates. More than half of the respondents indicated that Poland should, above all, cultivate relations with the European Union. Compared to this, 28 percent decided that the United States should be a key partner for Warsaw. Gender differences are noticeable, although not very profound: men are more likely to turn to the US, women to the EU.

An even more clear advantage of European integration is visible among… people over 60 years of age. In this group, as many as 60 percent respondents believed that relations with the EU were more important, while 27 percent I prefer the American direction. Importantly, the advantage of the pro-European option is maintained in each age group.
Security: NATO, the EU or both pillars at once?
The second part of the survey consisted of questions about the sense of security. For 42 percent respondents, the strongest guarantee of stability is simultaneous membership in the EU and NATO – both pillars are treated as complementary. One third (31%) strongly indicated NATO as the most important allianceand a small group, 6 percent surveyed, entrusts their sense of security solely to the European Union.

The political differences on this issue are extremely clear. Supporters of PiS and confederal groups more often declare their trust almost exclusively in NATO. On the other hand KO and Left voters notice the value of double anchoring — in their opinion, this combination of military and political structures gives Poland the widest protective umbrella.
Political sympathies in the background
Preferences regarding the direction of foreign cooperation strongly reflect the structure of the political scene. As many as 87% of the electorate of the current ruling coalition respondents indicate the need to focus primarily on the European Union, and only 9 percent sees priority in relations with the USA. Meanwhile, among voters PiS, Konfederacja and Korona we observe the opposite situation – 55%. of them attach greater importance to cooperation with the Americans, and 26 percent points to the EU.
The Opinia24 survey was conducted on December 4–7, 2025 using the CATI and CAWI methods on a representative sample of 1,001 adult Poles.
