Ruben Albes (40 years old), former coach at Hermannstadt between June 2020 and January 2021, is close to moving his career. The Spanish technician is on the list of Levante, the “red lantern” of La Liga.
Recently, the name of Ruben Albes was circulated for a possible return to Hermannstadt, after the departure of Marius Măldărășanu. The negotiations did not materialize, and in the meantime Dorinel Munteanu was officially presented on the bench of the Sibiians.
Ruben Albes is wanted by Levante, last ranked in La Liga
Free of contract since April of this year, after parting with Sporting Gijon, Ruben Albes is on the list of Levante, last ranked in La Liga.
Cadena Ser journalists claim that Ruben Albes is one of the main options to replace Julian Calero, the 55-year-old technician who parted ways with Levante at the beginning of December.
The main option for Levante was Luis Garcia Plaza, but an agreement was not reached, so the bosses of the Valencian club turned to two other names, Ruben Albes and Sergio Gonzalez, both coaches free of contract.
With just 9 points from 15 matches, Levante are the “red lantern” of La Liga, 5 points away from the first place that ensures safety from relegation, currently occupied by Mallorca.
Ruben Albes was brought to Romania by Anamaria Prodan
Ruben Albes was brought to Romania by Anamaria Prodan and trained Hermannstadt between June 2020 and January 2021.
After the short adventure in Sibiu, Albes coached several second divisions in his native country: CD Lugo, Albacete and Sporting Gijon. The Iberian technician was very close to achieving promotion to La Liga with Albacete, and in 2023 he was one step away from signing in the first division of Spain with Rayo Vallecano, the team where Andrei Rațiu plays.
