Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Ministry of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, announced on Thursday that the ministry has been working for many weeks on a new design of field uniform, adapted to the needs of the army. He also said that the Ministry of National Defense wants to introduce the so-called a green list of products that a soldier will be able to purchase privately.


The head of the Ministry of National Defense emphasized at Thursday's “Szpejowisko 2.0” conference that without providing soldiers with good individual equipment, we cannot talk about a well-organized army. Therefore – as he said – the Ministry of National Defense is catching up on the backlog from previous years, including: getting rid of steel helmets. – The modernization of individual equipment will never be stopped, because we are constantly discovering something new – said Kosiniak-Kamysz.
The Minister of Defense also informed about the progress of Operation Shpej, announced in January 2024.
For many weeks we have been working on a new design of field uniform, adapted to today's needs, using the best materials, and we are also testing it among soldiers, he said. He added that the ministry will soon present a new uniform design called “Ryś”.
Another change planned by the Ministry of National Defense is the introduction of the so-called green list of products from the civilian market that will be confirmed to be useful in the military. – Every year, soldiers receive about 3.5 thousand. PLN to purchase additional equipment. We want it to be certified – explained Kosiniak-Kamysz.
The deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense, Cezary Tomczyk, announced that as part of the “Szpej” operation, the following have already been purchased:
- over 200 thousand new Kevlar helmets,
- 100 thousand vests,
- “well over a million items of uniforms and equipment.”
