Ion Sturza (65 years old), former minister of the Republic of Moldova and businessman, said what response he received from Gică Hagi (60) when he considered investing in the Constanța Lighthouse.

Ion Sturza testified that a group of investors from Romania contacted him to invest in Gică Hagi's Academy. When he spoke with the owner of the Lighthouse, he was told: “You give the money, but don't teach me”. The businessman immediately abandoned the idea.

“Volens nolens, I saw how these things work in Romania (…) I was contacted by a group of entrepreneurs from Romania to invest in Gică Hagi in the Academy.

Only Gica said: “You give the money, but don't teach me”.

I certainly wouldn't invest in football. Because I learned a few things. I don't invest in sports, I don't invest in real estate and I don't invest in media. I also said that I don't like performance sports”, said Ion Sturza, in the podcast “Culise Arenelor”.

In April 2024, Ciprian Marica, the minority shareholder of the Dobrogens, said that there were discussions with certain investors who were tempted to put money into the Lighthouse: “We are also in discussions with other shareholders.

The budget will be important. Depending on what budget we have, we will also draw our goal. It is certain that Farul aims to be in the play-offs next season as well. Furthermore, investments are needed”.

There are several phenomena that have gained momentum recently in professional sports, which has become a big business. It's a form of smart guys to exploit the vulnerabilities of athletes. This is seen in football, but also in other fields.
