The rich in central London park where they want because they don't care about fines. A Rolls Royce worth over 250,000 euros, lifted from the pavement

A Rolls Royce, worth more than €250,000, registered in Saudi Arabia, has been lifted from the pavement in Grosvenor Square, London, by local authorities as part of a campaign against illegal parking.

Westminster City Council (WCC) said the intervention was necessary after complaints from residents. People have complained that guests of the Chancery Rosewood Hotel are taking up the sidewalks with their luxury cars.
“Pedestrians should not have to drive around illegally parked supercars. We will not tolerate such practices, whether it's a bicycle or a Lamborghini.”said a Council representative.
Authorities say the fines have not worked because the vehicles are registered overseas and cost recovery is difficult.
“The owners are so rich that the fines don't matter”a council spokesman explained, according to the BBC.
The council used a removal vehicle to pick up the blue Rolls Royce from Grosvenor Square and move it to another location a few blocks away.
“The usual approach of issuing penalty notices has proven ineffective. The vehicles are registered abroad – the ones we photographed have Saudi plates – so the chances of recovering the costs are virtually nil. And the owners of the vehicles, which include Rolls Royce and Lamborghini, are so rich that the fines almost don't matter.” said a Council spokesman.
