The Ivorian winger Issouf Macalou (26 years old) has reached an agreement regarding the extension of the contract with the Cluj University football team, the club announced on Tuesday.
The Ivorian footballer arrived at the University earlier this year, having last played for French third-tier side Sochaux-Montbeliard. Two months after the officialization of the move, Macalou made his debut in black and white in the first stage of the play-off, when he had an appreciated evolution, despite the away defeat from Craiova (0-3 with Craiova University), writes Agerpres.
The player who has also made appearances for Le Mans or Valenciennes continued his good form throughout last season's play-offs, scoring three times and providing an assist.
Macalou started in both legs of the double with Ararat-Armenia in the Conference League, and domestically he collected another 17 appearances in the Super League and two in the Romanian Cup, scoring another goal and five decisive assists and thus totaling four goals and six assists in 31 matches played for “U” Cluj.
Macalou is the sixth player to extend his contract with Cluj University in recent days, after midfielders Dan Nistor, Dorin Codrea, Gabriel Simion and defenders Alex Chipciu and Iulian Cristea.
