On December 9, on the Day of Heroes of the Fatherland, the III All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference “Krasnoyarsk Military History Readings” was held at the Siberian Federal University.

Krasnoyarsk military history readings are organized by the Siberian Federal University, the Military Training Center named after Army General, Hero of Russia V.P. Dubynin and the regional branch of the Russian Military Historical Society in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

The conference participants were teachers and officers of the SibFU Military Training Center, representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, guests from other regions of Russia – 24 doctors of science and 60 candidates of science from Moscow, Novosibirsk, Barnaul, Vladivostok and other cities.

Guests of the conference discussed issues related to current trends in preserving the military-historical heritage of Russia and its use in the interests of state-patriotic education of youth, as well as military personnel of the armed forces of the Russian Federation.

Before the start of the plenary session, a ceremonial award ceremony took place for officers of the Military Training Center named after Army General, Hero of Russia V.P. Dubynin with state awards of the Russian Federation. Colonel S.N. Solodyankin was awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky with swords, Colonel O. B. Mikhailov was awarded the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 1st degree, Lieutenant Colonel R.V. Ilyichev – medal of the Order “For Services to the Fatherland”, II degree.

Experts presented scientific reports on the history of the Russian Imperial Army, the Civil War in Russia and the pre-war period, studies on the Soviet Armed Forces during the Great Patriotic War and the post-war period, and the Soviet rear during the Great Patriotic War. Experts examined the issues of preserving historical memory, the military-historical heritage of Russia and its role in the state-patriotic education of youth.

As part of the conference, an exhibition of artifacts brought from expeditions by the Yenisei-SFU search team took place in the Congress Hall.

The search team's activities began in 2011. Evgeniy Garin, director of the Military Engineering Institute of Siberian Federal University, head of the Military Training Center of SFU, emphasized that members of the detachment work annually in Volgograd, Rzhev and other cities of military glory:

“Three years ago we found a medallion of a soldier who died defending Stalingrad. He turned out to be from Kursk. His nephew currently lives in Norilsk. And this nephew brought his son and grandchildren to the funeral in Volgograd. We also deal with AlSib. In the summer, monuments to Vasily Molokov and Ilya Mazuruk were unveiled at the Siberian Federal University Military Training Center. Our people, knowing Molokov Street, sometimes, unfortunately, do not know who he is. And Vasily Molokov is a polar pilot and the first hero of the Soviet Union who “broke” the Alaska-Siberia route. Ilya Mazuruk – commander of the ferry aviation division, led the Alaska-Siberia ferry route for the supply of American aircraft under Lend-Lease.”

Among the exhibits at the exhibition are a Soviet sapper blade, a Red Army book from 1942, a Soviet gas mask, an SSh-40 helmet, a fragment of German barbed wire and much more.

On the Day of Heroes of the Fatherland, a photo exhibition “Krasnoyarsk Territory: The People and the Army are United” also opened in Krasnoyarsk. Evgeny Garin took part in the opening. The exhibition is organized in close cooperation with the regional branch of the Russian Military Historical Society in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the State Archive of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, and the Krasnoyarsk Museum of Local Lore.

A separate exhibition stand is dedicated to graduates of the Siberian Federal University Military Training Center – participants in a special military operation, holders of the Order of Courage. This exhibition is a tribute of respect and gratitude to the real heroes of our time.
