Dorinel Munteanu (57 years old) returns to the Romanian Superliga! The technician reached an agreement with FC Hermannstadt and will take over the team after the departure of Marius Măldărășanu (50 years old).

The former Romanian international accepted the Sibiu team's offer and will lead training starting this week. The contract is valid for a year and a half, until the summer of 2027, and Dorinel Munteanu's salary will be 10,000 euros per month, according to fanatik.ro.

In May, Măldărășanu extended his contract with the club from Sibiu, collecting a monthly salary of 15,000 euros.

His arrival comes at a critical time for Hermannstadt, who are fighting to avoid relegation.

Returns after relegation with Sepsis

Dorinel Munteanu's last experience in the Super League was short and negative. At Sepsi Sf. Gheorghe failed to impose his style of play, and the management of Covasnen terminated his contract. Later, Dioszegi's team was relegated to League 2.

Before his time at Sepsi, Dorinel was the coach of Oțelu Galati for 3 years, the club with which he achieved the best performances of his career on the bench.

Dorinel Munteanu's track record as a coach

At Oțelul Galati, “Neamțul” succeeded:

  • League 1 win – 2010/11

  • Romanian Supercup – 2011/12

  • A spectacular comeback: promotion from League 3 to the Super League, in the second term

Now, at Hermannstadt, Dorinel Munteanu has a challenge again: saving the Sibiu team from relegation, a team that occupies the penultimate place, just one point above the “red lantern” Metaloglobus.
