Sorin Grindeanu explained on Tuesday that the failure of Daniel Băluță, who came third in the partial elections for the general mayor of the Capital, after Ciprian Ciucu and Anca Alexandrescu, was caused by the fact that, unlike the other candidates, the social democrat did not have a political message.

At the end of a meeting of the PSD leadership in which the results of the partial elections were analyzed, the president of the party, Sorin Grindeanu, explained, for the first time, what the result obtained by Daniel Băluță was based on in the race for the position of general mayor of the Capital.

“We debated the mistakes we made in the capital, because, in the end, one of the candidates who came from power, from the coalition, won. The opposition candidate was in second place. Our speech was apolitical, it was an administrative speech, about projects, as you well know, about what Daniel wanted to do in Bucharest,” explained the head of the PSD.

Grindeanu said that the speeches of Ciprian Ciucu and Anca Alexandrescu were political:

“The one in first place, the winner Ciprian said, vote for me, because otherwise extremism wins, and vote for me, because the others are withdrawing in my favor, from the right. Anca Alexandrescu said, vote for me, because if I win, Bolojan goes home.”

According to Sorin Grindeanu, the “technical, administrative speech with projects” that Daniel Băluță had in the electoral campaign was weaker than the others.

“We had a good, very good candidate, as it appears from the polls, who, not having a strong and political message, led us to the given situation”, emphasized the leader of the social democrats.

Baluță did not come to the meeting. Ciolacu was present

Tuesday's meeting was a National Permanent Office, that is, the general secretary, the 5 first vice-presidents, the vice-presidents for regions and development and the president of the National Council were convened.

Daniel Băluță is also vice president of the party, but he was not present at the meeting. On the other hand, Marcel Ciolacu, who was elected president of the Buzău County Council with more than 50% of the votes, came.

Asked about Băluță's absence, Sorin Grindeanu said that he took a few days off:

“I spoke with Daniel several times yesterday. He wants a few days off, it's normal. It was a busy, crazy period, he ran a lot. It's normal for humans to take a few days off. He's the president of PSD Bucharest, we're going to have elections in 2028, he's in a good position that he has to build on. Maybe a better, more committed strategy is needed.”
