Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, deposed a year ago, lives in complete isolation in an undisclosed location in Moscow, Al Arabyia reported on Monday. He is not allowed to talk to the media or even go for walks in public, the website reported on Monday.

The former president fled to his ally Russia as attacking rebel forces entered Damascus. Since then, there have been regular speculations about what the former dictator is doing in Moscow.
For almost a year now, Assad has remained almost completely silent. His eldest son Hafez published a video in mid-February of himself walking near the Kremlin, talking about the family's hasty escape from Syria. However, Assad himself did not comment on this speech.
In October, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed that the Assad family had been granted political asylum in Russia. However, the Russian ambassador to Iraq told local media that Assad was obliged to refrain from all media activities and appearances – recalled the Euronews website. (PAP)
