Lithuania, Latvia and Poland will consider stopping bus routes to Belarus


According to him, when making such a decision, it is important to assess how much pressure it will put on the Belarusian regime and whether it will strengthen hostile sentiments against the European Union.

Kondratovich plans to discuss this issue next week with colleagues from Poland and Latvia in Brussels, noting that the decision should be a joint one for the countries of the region.

The channel drew attention to the fact that the Latvian Ministry of Transport had previously prepared a project to suspend regular bus routes to Belarus and Russia, citing safety reasons. According to the Lithuanian side, 24 routes currently run from Lithuania to Belarus, and 25 buses depart and return through open border crossing points every day. There are 16 buses passing through the Medininkai point, and nine through the Shalcininkai point.

Context

Earlier, the heads of the Baltic countries began to discuss the dismantling of the railway with Russia and Belarus. The presidents of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia noted that the reason for this is to ensure the general security of the Baltic countries and Poland, strengthening the Baltic line of defense, as well as limiting transport links with Russia and Belarus against the backdrop of their aggressive actions.
