Marcel Ciolacu (November 2024), Crin Antonescu (May 2025) and Daniel Băluță (December 2025) were rated with the first chance in the elections and did not get the first two places.

Three crucial rounds of elections and three results below expectations for Romania's first party, in terms of the number of votes collected in November 2024.

The first disillusionment was caused by the candidate Marcel Ciolacu in the presidential elections of 2024. The then head of the PSD started the race as the favorite, at least for the final. He collected 19.15% in the first round of the presidential elections, being overtaken by Călin Georgescu and Elena Lasconi.

The second defeat came at the resumption of the presidential elections, in May 2025. PSD and PNL supported Crin Antonescu, who entered the race and returned to big politics as one of the clear favorites. Antonescu collected 20.07%, being overtaken by Nicușor Dan and George Simion.

Now, at the local offices in Bucharest, most polls put Daniel Băluță, the PSD candidate, in first place. He finished in 3rd place, with 20.6%, being overtaken by Ciprian Ciucu and Anca Alexandrescu.
