7 December 19:32
Tonight, a freight train injured a person on the Stainy-Sulemka station section.
Transport police determined that a 22-year-old local resident was walking along the tracks, disregarding safety rules. Seeing the pedestrian, the driver of the freight train sounded a loud signal, but the man did not respond to it. Despite the emergency braking applied, a collision could not be avoided. The pedestrian was injured by the protruding elements of the train. Arriving doctors diagnosed him with bruises on his arm and head.
According to the victim, he was intoxicated and believed that he was moving at a safe distance from the rails.
The transport police reminds: it is prohibited to walk on the tracks and along the railway bed closer than five meters from the outer rail, as well as to stand between tracks when a train is passing. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in injury from protruding elements of the rolling stock or a pedestrian being pulled under the carriages by the air flow.
