A passenger plane flying from Krasnoyarsk to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk that night was forced to change its destination airport.
Instead of the island capital, the aircraft landed in Khabarovsk.
The reason for this was thick fog in the area of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk airport. Visibility in the airfield area does not exceed 500 meters.
The airliner performing this flight was sent to an alternate airfield in Khabarovsk due to difficult weather conditions at its destination.
