“The type of government we have in 2026 will mean our fate with regard to war. If we have a pro-Brussels government, it will take us to war, but if we have a government that is interested in the national aspect, then we will have a chance to stay outside the war. The war in Ukraine is not far away, neither geographically nor politicallysaid Orban, according to the city source, taken over by Agerpres.

The Hungarian Prime Minister added that the European leaders have made the decision that Europe will go to war, the European Union “building a war economy, which is not built for two months.”

Hungary can only count on herself, and if she can't do it well, “we could find ourselves in a situation where everyone is our enemy instead of our friend”, according to Viktor Orban.

“It is obvious to us that war can only be a bad thing, but those in the West do not think so, they believe that money can be made from it, and money increasingly dominates the position of power in this regard.” the prime minister of Hungary also said.

Decisions in Western European countries regarding the war “got out of the hands of the politicians”

The head of the Hungarian government expressed his hope that in the coming weeks it will be discussed more and more openly about what will happen to the 220-230 billion euros representing frozen Russian assets.

Viktor Orban noted that, with the passage of time, the decisions of the Western European countries regarding the war “they got out of the hands of the politicians” and they partially ended up in the hands of economic actors.

The Hungarian Prime Minister qualified as “evil” the decision of the European Union not to exempt Hungary from the sanctions against Russia related to the energy sector, after the American President Donald Trump had granted Budapest such an exception from the sanctions imposed by the USA on Moscow.

In his opinion, Brussels considers that the EU sanctions applied to Russia are a commercial policy decision, which does not require unanimity among the member countries.

We remind you that, this week, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojance met, in Hungary, in Budapest, with his counterpart, Viktor Orban, for discussions on the development of interconnections in the electricity sector.

“I had a pragmatic discussion today with the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, about how we need to work together to strengthen electricity interconnections between Romania and Hungary and further throughout the region, including Austria“, explained Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, in a message shared on Facebook and X.
