A dramatic rescue operation in rural India's Gujarat state has stunned social media users after a local wildlife volunteer brought a dying snake back to life using mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, India Today reports.
A clip of the operation went viral on social networks, recording millions of views, notes the Indian publication.
The incident took place in the Valsad district, during agricultural work. The farmers' work was interrupted when they noticed a snake climbing an electricity pole. Before he could react, the reptile touched a high voltage cable and fell to the ground, paralyzed
It was not moving so the workers immediately called in a well-known local rescuer Mukesh Vayad, a resident of the same village and who frequently deals with wildlife emergencies.
Vayad rushed to the spot and assessed the snake. In a desperate attempt to resuscitate him, she opened his jaws and began giving him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
After some time, faint body movements reappeared, and soon after, the reptile crept back into the surrounding forest.
An excellent example of humanity and life was seen in Valsad, when the rescuer gave a new life to a snake that had been electrocuted by CPR#Gujarat | #ViralVideo pic.twitter.com/q4S7BWg0rT
