The film of tragedy
Pressured by the arguments he had at home with his concubine's relatives, Georgi Dumitru Pîrvu, now 31 years old, threatened to kill himself and that “he will get into the first car that comes his way», said a witness witness who cooperated with the police and prosecutors throughout this investigation, according to Independent Online.
The man consumed a bottle of drink, he got into his car, together with his concubine, and a few minutes later, in the town of Borănești, he hit head-on, at 126 km/h, a car that was traveling legally in the opposite direction.
As a result of the impact, the driver who was behind the wheel of the legally driven car, his 1-year-old and 4-month-old daughter died, as well as the girl's mother was seriously injured.
The concubine of the driver responsible for this tragedy was also seriously injured.
The women needed over 200 days of medical care to recover from their injuries.
Initially, the tragedy was investigated by the prosecutors of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Urziceni Court, a unit whose prosecutors made checks regarding the commission of the crimes of culpable bodily injury and culpable homicide.
Later, the case was taken over by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Ialomița Court, the prosecutors being able to prove his intention, thus changing the initial legal classification of the act committed as “murder”.
“(…) The statements of the witnesses (…) and (…) are considered essential for clarifying the factual situation. Based on them, it was noted that, before getting behind the wheel, the defendant would have expressed his intention to enter the first vehicle he crossed, taking into account the way he acted, presented previously» it is shown in the judicial acts that were the basis for the change in the legal classification of the facts.
The Bucharest Court of Appeal gave the final decision: 20 years in prison
In October 2025, the Bucharest Court of Appeal gave a definitive ruling on the criminal case opened against the individual.
The court sentenced the driver to 20 years in prison and ordered him to pay compensation of 1 million euros to the women who survived the accident and their relatives. However, the man did not end up behind bars, because he had fled the country.
We remind you that, in 2024, a man from Timiș County, who intentionally caused a road accident resulting in three victims, was sent to court for attempted murder.
In 2022, a frontal impact between an Audi and a truck, on DN79, in Bihor county, resulting in the death of a 25-year-old woman, came to the attention of prosecutors who realized that the driver of the car had deliberately provoked it.
