Shopping Sundays December 2025. When will stores be open?

December this year is a month with as many as three trading Sundays. The first of them falls on December 7, and the next two – before Christmas. The changes were introduced to give Poles more time for pre-Christmas shopping, especially since Christmas Eve will be a day off from work for the first time.

Shopping Sundays in December 2025. Christmas Eve off from work – a new regulation in practice
Minister of Family Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk reminded on social media that December 24 will be a day off from work. This is the result of changes in regulations that were introduced a year ago.
Moreover, December gained an additional shopping Sunday, which will allow for better preparation for the holidays. Many store employees are not happy with this change.
“Important information for trade employees. Your employer cannot make you work more than two Sundays in December. Also remember that you should receive a day off for working on Sunday,” emphasizes Minister Dziemianowicz-Bąk on social media.

Trading Sunday in December. When is it due?
December 2025 means changes for Polish consumers and trade employees – three shopping Sundays and Christmas Eve off from work. Trading Sundays are:
- December 7
- December 14
- December 21st

Biedronka extends its opening hours to the trading Sunday of December 7
The next shopping Sunday, December 7, will involve changes in the opening hours of some chains. According to Biedronka, most of the over 3.2 thousand branches will be open on that day until 10 p.m., and some stores will remain open even until 23.30.
This change is intended to make shopping easier for customers in the pre-Christmas period. Lidl also announces that its stores will be open at least until 10 p.m. that day. Information about the exact opening hours of individual branches is available on the websites of the Lidl and Biedronka chains.
Trade ban. The National Labor Inspectorate reminds about penalties for violating the regulations
Employers face high penalties for breaking the regulations regarding the ban on trading on Christmas Eve. According to the National Labor Inspectorate, fines may range from PLN 1,000. PLN up to PLN 100,000. zloty. However, the ban on trading on Christmas Eve does not apply to shop owners and their families, provided that they are not employed full-time or under a civil law contract.
The trade ban does not include, among others: gas stations, pharmacies, post offices or points located at railway stations.
