Portugal is fighting against illegal migration. The government has approved important regulations


— New regulations are useful facilitating activities related to the expulsion from our country of those who break the law – said government spokesman Antonio Leitao Amaro after Thursday's meeting of the Council of Ministers.

He specified that the new regulation will not only speed up the procedures for expelling immigrants who break the regulations, but also will prevent them from trying to stay on Portuguese territory by applying for asylum.
The government representative added that despite the fight against illegal immigration, the Portuguese authorities “act in accordance with the principle of respect for human rights.”
The number of immigrants in Portugal is growing
According to data from the Portuguese government, nearly 2 million immigrants live in this country of over 10 million citizens. The Montenegro Prime Minister's office does not have a precise number of people staying there illegally.
The most numerous immigrants arriving in Portugal in the last year include citizens of Brazil, Morocco, as well as Central Asian countries, mainly India, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
