Eliminating the health insurance premium and replacing it with a single health tax – these are the assumptions of the health care reform prepared by the Left, which was obtained by “Rzeczpospolita”. The tax would apply to PIT and CIT taxpayers and would be cheaper for the average citizen.

As Thursday's “Rzeczpospolita” writes, the new health tax would cover both CIT and PIT payers. For employees, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises, the change will mean savings.

“Its key element is the elimination of the health insurance premium and replacing it with a single health tax,” said Łukasz Michnik, spokesman for the New Left, who coordinates work on the project, as quoted by “Rzeczpospolita”. “Thanks to these changes, within a few years Poland would reach the OECD average in terms of health care expenditure” – added Michnik.

“Rzeczpospolita” emphasizes that it is not known whether the project will be treated as a government project. The spokesman for the New Left is silent on this matter, and the KO representative mentioned in the article refrains from commenting until the project is presented. Rz also notes that the condition of the health service is related to the position of Health Minister Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda.

For the new head of the ministry, the current financial situation of the health care system is the first major political crisis. Meanwhile, Donald Tusk, in one of his videos on social media, announced another approach to the idea of reducing health insurance premiums. The left does not want to hear about it – the article stated.

CBOS research mentioned in the text of “Rz” shows that according to 93 percent respondents, the government will improve access to medical services. (PAP)
