Cătălin Drula, the USR candidate for the Capital City Hall, criticized Ciprian Ciucu, his counter-candidate from the PNL, on Wednesday on Digi24, and said that “applying the “Pesedist” practices is a red line”.
Asked if his main opponent in this campaign was Ciprian Ciucu, Cătălin Drula said: “On the contrary, my main opponent is “Pesedism” – and that is, in fact, the fight of this campaign.”
“For quite some time now, for some years, “PESEDISM”, which was a clear opponent in one part of the political spectrum and hundreds of thousands of Romanians took to the streets against this party, has become the subject of legend, of license plates, etc., it comes with several heads now – and one of the heads, unfortunately, is at PNL Bucharest. We cannot ignore this reality”, continued Cătălin Drula.
Drula said about his liberal counter-candidate that he “ran under the PSD logo” in June 2024, when he was also supported by the PSD in the elections for the District 6 City Hall.
“In 2020 we removed the power of Gabriela Firea from Bucharest, in a USR-PNL alliance, with Nicușor Dan, at the General City Hall, as the spearhead of this construction, which had some axes on which it had been formed, of values, of principles, one of them being the application of urbanism on the correct bases (…). Mr. Ciucu and the PNL abandoned this idea, this direction, just one year after the elections. In 2022, there were already completely in arms with PSD in all local councils”, added the USR candidate.
He also criticized the social-democrat Daniel Băluță, and Anca Alexandrescu, the candidate supported by AUR.
“Mr. Băluță, the representative with documents of the PSD in this campaign, the block between the graves, which became famous in this campaign, is voted PSD and PNL, with the USR opposition, in 2023, in the previous electoral cycle, and that is why I say that there are several faces of this attitude towards the government, one of them being Mrs. Anca Alexandrescu. Mrs. Anca Alexandrescu, beyond the fact that she was the adviser of four leaders PSD, was mayor Oprescu's advisor, the only mayor of the Capital ever to be removed from office because a string was found in his sofa”, Cătălin Drula also declared.
